Healthy pizza

Healthy pizza

Sometimes, you just need some pizza, but it can be so unhealthy. Luckily, there are healthier options available to simulate the delicious pizza feel and smell, without too much effort. You can of course buy the cauliflower bases in most supermarkets nowadays, but they can be rather expensive. That is why I typically use naan bread instead for this tasty healthy pizza recipe!

What you’ll need for your healthy pizza:

  • One naanbread per person (I prefer the ones with garlic or basil in it already)
  • A can of tomato puree
  • Basil
  • Oregano
  • 30+ grated cheese or mozzarella balls
  • A handful of spinach
  • Chicken strips or ham cubes
  • Pine nuts
  • Garlic powder
  • Half a red onion
  • If you have garlic oil I’d use that, otherwise olive oil

How your pizza is made:

First, you need to heat up your oven up to the instructed temperature. Then you divide a little of garlic/olive oil on the top of the bread, spread it out nice an thin with a spoon or a food brush to make the bread nice and crisp at the end. Then, you divide the tomato puree over the bread and you sprinkle the herbs on top as well, followed by the cheese. After this, you can pile on the rest: the spinach, meat, pine nuts and onion. If you want, you can of course also choose other toppings, like mushrooms or paprika, these are just my preferences. I would stay away from more fatty cheeses and meats, since that might defeat the purpose of the recipe (although sometimes a cheat day should never be a problem!).

Then you can put it in the oven for the time that is recommended by the packaging of the naanbread and maybe a few minutes longer to make sure the cheese is melted. And now, dinner is ready! This meal contains about 580 calories and is therefore a much healthier option than your average take-away pizza.

And of course, please let me know what you think of this healthy pizza, what your favourite toppings are and what other possible food swaps I can help you with!
